I’m doing Camp NaNoWriMo April 2021!

So, I’m doing Camp NaNoWriMo this month. I have picked up my project from 2016, and will pretty much rewrite the whole thing. Keeping elements, of course, and essence of the main character. But all-in-all it needs a redo.

Even though I registered at the NaNoWriMo webpage in 2006 (I can be found as lunacia over at the website), 2016 was my first year to actually win a November NaNoWriMo. It’s in general easier to win a camp, as you set your own goal.

My goal is 3,000 words, which is an average of 100 words per day. This fits me, personally, much better than the average of almost 1,700 words you have for the November 50,000 goal. When I rush it, it turns out really, really crappy. Taking it slowing gives me time to pause and think. I tend to write more than 100 words when I sit down, but not every day. Also, should I have a bad day where I can’t write, it’s not the big setback. I never know when the migraine strikes…

How about you, are you doing Camp NaNoWriMo this April? Are you taking part of NaNoWriMo at all?

Fortnight Frights 2020

The booktuber and blogger The Artisan Geek hosted a readathon called Fortnight Frights during the last two weeks of October. Even though I had planty of things to do, I decided that I wanted to take part in it.

The fist thing I was, was picking the books I wanted to read. Here’s my video where I talked about the books I was planning on reading for the readathon:

As you can see in my reading vlog, my “To Be Read” (or TBR) list went through the window. But at least something exciting happened (which can be seen towards the end of the video):

Do you ever take part in readathons? Do you think it’s fun?

I attended a webinar on how to write a fantasy novel!

I have always enjoyed wrtiting, and for NaNoWriMo 2016, I wrote a fantasy novel. When i finished it, one thing was utterly clear: It was a piece of rubbish. Now, there are elements of it that I like, so I keep thinking it would be a good plan to pick it up, and make some major changes to it. When the Norwegian Forfatterskolen (meaning: “Author School”) offered a free webinar on “How to write a fantasy novel”, I just knew that I need to attend this, and signed up.

Me ready for the webinar!

The webinar lasted for almost two hours, and after hardly any sleep the previous night I can’t say I was very awake… That being said, I really did get some helpful tips. I have seen character building as something I’ve not been too bad at, but I still think I got some helpful pointers to get even better at it.

I had hoped to do NaNoWriMo again this year, I had a wonderful time last year. If I have the time and energy, I’m not sure about. We’ll see what I end up doing, but I really should get back at working on that novel…

We went to Bergen, and had the most beautiful train journey!

We had planned on going to Ireland for the summer of 2020, but due to the situation, we decided to go to Bergen instead. As we were not comfortable flying, we decided to take the train both ways.

The train journey between Oslo and Bergen might very well be one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world, and I highly recommend giving it a go if you ever get the chance!

The piece of music used in this video is «Flowing», composed and played by Øystein Holmen, who’s a friend of mine. Read more about the story behind the song in the blogpost «The greatest gift».

What I ate in a day during the Covid-19 pandemic [vegan]

DISCLAIMER: This is not how I eat every day, but just what I ate on a random day in my life, as a vegan. I’m not suggesting that anyone should eat the same exact things. I’m not a dietician, nor an expert on nutrition, but I try to eat varied and balanced. And I’m still learning!

What I ate on Sunday 3 May, 2020, during the Covid-19 lockdown. At this point Norway had started to opening up again, but my work place was still closed, and I stayed mostly at home, but for a few short walks. Even though it’s not showed in the video, I take vitamins B12 and vegan D3 supplements.
